INSIDE THE HEARING
The FDA Avastin Hearing kicked off with a 2 hour public testimony from patients and family members sharing their emotional stories of how Avastin has improved their quality of life. FAMEDS’ Founder Terry Kalley was one of the few granted to speak, on behalf of his wife.

Next spoke an FDA lawyer to read over the key legal issues of the drug and FDA. Directly following, CDER, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, which spoke on data from trials and some of the science behind the drug.  After CDER, the Roche/Genentech cross examination of the FDA began.  It appeared as a court room with FDA officials on the stand. The FDA cited other drugs / products are irrelevant & should not be discussed. (A larger recap will be included in tomorrow’s newsletter.)

CAPITOL HILL
From the Hearing, FAMEDS went to Capitol Hill and held a press conference with Media outlets. Then they went to visit senators and congressmen, including US Rep Marsha Blackburn who is on the Energy and Commerce Health committee.
