INSIDE THE HEARING
During Day 2 of the Hearing, final testimony was presented by Genentech and CDER regarding trials, risks and benefits. Four questions were posed by Genentech. The FDA panel voted against each question by 6-0 Wednesday that key studies on Avastin show it isn't effective as a treatment. As the Hearing concluded, patient advocates in audience reacted and said the hearing not fair and they want an immediate hearing wth the Commissioner. "In America this does not happen." "What would you like us to take?" and "We have nothing!" the audience shouted at FDA Panel. Panel was unresponsive.
Avastin final approval left in hands of Commissioner Hamberg. Will be on/after July 28th. No decision made YET.
